Muhyiddin is at a 'dead end', not PMX, says PKR Youth chief

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is at a “dead end” when it comes to leading the Opposition, and that is why he refused to defend his Bersatu president post in the next party polls, says PKR youth chief Adam Adli.

“I feel he is at a ‘dead-end’, and that is why he does not want to continue his (presidency) post next year. He does not have anything to attack (about the government),” said Adam during a press conference held during the PKR youth and women’s wing national congress on Saturday (Nov 25).

Adam said the unity government had various economic recovery initiatives, such as Budget 2024, the Madani Economy framework, and the mid-term review of the 12th Malaysian Plan.

“That is very clear (of the government). So, I think Muhyiddin is just raising issues to make himself happy,” said Adam at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on Saturday (Nov 25).

Adam was responding to Muhyiddin, who said during Bersatu’s annual general assembly on Friday (Nov 24) that the Madani Economy framework by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not have a clear goal of reviving the economy.

Muhyiddin also claimed that many economists believed that if the present situation continued, Anwar’s government would reach a “dead-end” in reviving the national economy.

During Bersatu’s AGM on Friday, Muhyiddin also said he did not want to defend his presidential post in the next party polls because there were enough leaders to succeed him.

However, on Saturday, Bersatu AGM permanent chairman Datuk Suhaimi Abdullah said party delegates nationwide had passed a motion to reject Muhyiddin’s decision not to defend his presidential post.
