No basis for linking me to London Move, says Ahmad Faizal Azumu

SHAH ALAM: There is no basis linking me to the “London Move”, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The Bersatu deputy-president clarified that while he was in the United Kingdom when there were talks of the “London Move”, he was nowhere near the place.

Talk of the “London Move” began after four Perikatan Nasional (Perikatan) MPs pledged their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Ahmad Faizal’s association with the started after his former political secretary, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, announced his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim while still remaining loyal to Bersatu.

“This is why I must express my disappointment with my former political secretary for trusting him and putting him as a candidate.

“Before his candidacy, no one knew of him, neither did Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin nor (vice-president) Dr Razdi Jidin, but I still fielded him as a candidate in Kuala Kangsar.

“He broke his loyalty to the party, no matter what excuse he gives. But bear in mind that in no way should my name be associated with his betrayal of the party,” Ahmad Fauzal told delegates at the Bersatu 6th Annual General Meeting at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam on Saturday (Nov 25).

Following the four MPs who pledged support for Anwar, he admitted that he had mistakenly fielded some of them as candidates, having seen their true colours revealed after the 15th General Elections.

“I will never betray the party,” he said.

Recently, four Bersatu MPs expressed support for Anwar, including Iskandar Dzulkarnain, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang) and Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), but have said they would still remain in the party.
